There are many benefits of being a member of the Minnesota Radiological Society (MRS), a state chapter of the American College of Radiology (ACR). In addition to providing you with the opportunity to express your own thoughts and opinions regarding the practice of radiology, your membership allows the collective voice of radiology within the state to be strengthened, allowing the MRS to work more effectively on your behalf in the areas of advocacy, education, and economics, among others.
The MRS works actively with local lobbyists to promote pro-radiology legislation at the state level. Over the past year alone, the MRS played a significant role in the drafting of several bills, including chiropractic and nurse practitioner scope of practice bills, and the promotion of legislation requiring notification of breast density for female patients undergoing mammography.
During its biannual meeting, the MRS provides its members with access to some of the greatest educators in radiology. Recent examples include Geraldine McGinty, MD, current chair of the ACR Commission on Economics, Paul Chang, MD, VP of Imaging Informatics at the University of Chicago, and Brent Wagner, MD, current President of West Reading Radiology Associates.
